Mapping Technology Workshop
A mapping technology workshop is planned to be held in conjunction with the Australian Championships in South Australian in late September 2010, most likely Monday September 27th, in Adelaide. Topics will include
- Practical use of GPS in mapping
- Current developments in GPS technology
- OCAD 10
- Digital elevation models and use of digital aerial photography
IOF revision project of foot-o mapping specifications
The IOF Map Commission announced in June 2008 that it is to revise the International Specification for Orienteering Maps. A preliminary project plan involves three consultations with member federations and the review to be validated from 2012.
To be ready for the first round of consultation the OA Mapping Chairperson is now seeking input to the revision process. Hence opinions, views and any ‘deficiencies and lacks’ of ISOM 2000 should be forwarded to the OA Mapping Chairperson.
