Welcome back to the You
Yangs! The assembly area will be at the Flinders Peak turntable car
park. The gates to the park will be closed for entering cars at 6 pm;
so if you’re late when you get there, you’ll need to ride to the
assembly area. People already in the park can leave whenever they
ParksVic have worked hard
since the floods to restore basic infrastructure and tracks. The MTB
single track has been realigned in several places. It is worth noting
that the tracks that are not used and maintained by ParksVic are
slowly deteriorating and some can be hard to spot when they are
covered in forest litter. The map has been amended to take in most
changes. You will receive a pre-marked colour map; scale 1:15,000
with 5 metre contours.
ParksVic have allowed us
to use some of the tracks which are generally out of bounds to MTB,
but I’ve been told this will be the last time we can use them.
ParksVic are also making us pay a user charge of $2.40 per
participant, so we have had to add $2 to the normal entry fees to cover this (see below).
Facilities: There are toilets, water
and electric BBQs. It is recommended you bring your own water as
the supply is limited and you might prefer the taste of your of your
own. Please support the fundraising BBQ and refreshment stall after your ride.
Time: Mass Starts at 6.00pm
Register on the day from 5.00 until 5.45pm
OV members $12, juniors $7

The Summer 75 MTBO Series. A series of low-key Mountain Bike Orienteering events around Melbourne
that are ideal as an introduction to MTBO or for those wishing to enjoy a
summer-evening bike ride of discovery. Riders have up to 75 minutes to visit as many check points on the
supplied colour map as you want. You choose which ones to visit and
which way to get there and back. Each control is worth 20 points. 10
points penalty per minute for those longer than 75 minutes. Simple as
